Native Word Tables

The Native Word Tables offers a user-friendly process of adding tables created in Datasets to Word documents through the Studio for Word add-in.

Creating a table in Word before the Native Word Tables feature consisted of creating a table in Word and individually filling in the table with Data Points. Drawbacks of this approach:

  • This can be very time-consuming

  • Syncing the document takes time as the query for each Data Point needs to be updated individually.

Benefits of using Native Word Tables that are based on Datasets configured in the Kurtosys App.

  • The user only needs to add the table to the Word document and doesn’t have to add Data Points individually. This has major benefits for increasing the time to delivery of a Word template that contains tables.

  • The data can be conditionally styled, which can’t be catered for with the current solution. Using the Cell Styles card available on the Studio for Word add-in, a user can create a cell style that can be applied to a Word Native table during the conditional styling configuration step. These styles can also be shared across documents for a client.

Bug Fixes

Kurtosys App

  • The “Clear Selection” option only clears the selection of entities on the current page.
    • We have successfully resolved an issue where the “Clear Selection” option did not clear selections on all pages and it only cleared the selection on the current page the user was viewing. Users can now enjoy a clearer and more user-friendly selection process.
  • Handling Deleted Properties in Search Configuration.
    • We resolved a critical issue in the Kurtosys application where deleting properties used in Document Search Configurations caused page crashes due to unresolved references. The solution implemented ensures that deleted properties are now handled gracefully, displaying the message "This property has been deleted" and allowing the configuration fields to appear blank for updating with valid alternatives. This fix, verified through thorough testing, prevents crashes and enhances system robustness, allowing users to manage and save new configurations without disruption.

Studio for Office (SFO)

  • "Add Tables" pop up randomly appearing within the add-in.
    • We resolved an issue in the Studio for Excel add-in where we randomly had the modal for the “Add Tables/Delete Tables” pop-up showing within the add-in. This fix ensures that the user should only be seeing the pop-up when the table that is associated with the template does not exist on the client that has been logged into (allowing for the user to save across client instances).

Studio for InDesign (SFI)

  • SFI Template Generation in Production Center.
    • We have resolved an issue in the SFI template generation process within the Production Center that was causing failures during template generation. The problem was addressed by creating and modifying templates involving app embeds and image elements, ensuring they updated correctly when changes were made. Comprehensive testing confirmed the successful generation of these templates, including those with previously added components, without the need for replacing or re-adding nodes. Users can now generate SFI templates reliably, and support is available for any further issues. This fix enhances the stability and functionality of the SFI template generation process, ensuring efficient document production.
