The Data Dictionary is the first step in setting up a client’s Kurtosys Instance.
It’s where you build the framework or home for the data you will be loading into Kurtosys. Without the Data Dictionary Properties, your data cannot be accepted as the system will not know where to put it. Each of the data values loaded onto Kurtosys will need to be assigned to a Property.
The Data Dictionary is found under System Administration.
Each Property that is added needs to be assigned to a system Entity. Data entities include FUND (Fund assets), CLSS (Share classes) and BMRK (Benchmarks). For Investment related data the entity is ACCT (Accounts).
There are a number of Property Categories within the Data Dictionary:
Properties – General fund-related properties like ISIN, Bloomberg code, Country, Launch date, etc.
Allocations – The categories into which financial assets are divided e.g. Geographical regions, Industry sectors.
Statistics – Any statistical metrics and comparisons such as Fund Performance or risk related statistics that are updated periodically.
Timeseries – Any data that is collected over a period of time and needs to be recorded and reported to show progress and change.
Commentaries – Paragraphs of information specific to a fund or fund type e.g. Portfolio Overviews and Performance Summaries.
Disclaimers – text statements that specify or delimit the rights and obligations that are exercised and enforced by the financial institutions.
Cultures – Different languages you will be targeting and providing content in e.g. en-GB (English), de-DE (German).
DocumentMeta – Tags that may be attached to documents for easy search or reference purposes e.g. ISIN, document type.
